Our mission is to be disciples who make disciples pressing the Gospel into the nooks and crannies of the north woods.
The River church started in 2005 as a small group, meeting in homes of people who wanted to study the Bible and grow in our understanding of how we could show Jesus to our friends and family in the Minong community. In 2006, we purchased the property on County Road I, and we’ve been meeting there ever since.
In 2019, The River opened a second site in Solon Springs. We meet on Sundays at the Solon Springs Community Center. We have a building on County Road A, just east of Hwy. 53, where we hold midweek youth meetings, Bible studies, and other gatherings.
As followers of Jesus, we aspire to see people and to love people the way He sees and loves them, to think how He thinks, and to do what He wants us to do. Our vision is to press the gospel into the nooks and crannies of the Northwoods. We are always looking and praying for the right opportunity, the right people, and the right place to gather people together to know Jesus better, to learn from God’s Word, and to share life together.

We are motivated by strong convictions and values. We know that Jesus is Almighty. He is worth our highest affection and desires to be the Master of our entire life. Even though many people believe there are “many paths to God,” we take Jesus at his word when he said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” We accept the Bible as God’s authoritative rule for faith and life.
We treasure opportunities to give grace. We like messy people…we’re messy ourselves. In our teaching and worship, we try hard not to put on a “church face,” but to honestly worship God.
